Mom and Dad waited a long time for me, but today was finally the big day. They had to be at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta by 7:30 am. They were scheduled for a c-section at 9:00 but there were two emergencies so they had to wait for me to come a little more. Mom and Dad were about to get bumped to the afternoon, when Mom's doctor hurried and grabbed them and took them to the operating room and snuck them in.
Dad had to look like a big blue marshmallow.
Here is Mom doing her parade wave on her way to surgery. Mom really didn't enjoy the surgery prep. She had a spinal block that was extremely painful to get put in. Dad had to wait in the hall while they did it. Her doctor was really nice to her during it.

The surgery went well. Mom's blood pressure kept dropping and it would make her really sick. When you have a spinal tap, you can still feel the tugging and pulling. Mom said it felt really good when they pulled me out, like she could breathe again. They told Dad that he could look when the doc pulled me out. Mom thought he looked like he would pass out.
I was born at 9:59 am on Friday, August 17, 2012.
Dad got to cut the umbilical chord.
I was very mad.
I weighed 7 lbs and was 18.5 inches long.
Mom really likes Dr. Huffman.
They put a "no shop lifting" device on my umbilical chord clamp.
I waited with Mom and Dad in the recovery room until about three o'clock because there weren't any rooms ready. My big brother Nathan had been at preschool, but was home now, and Grandma Caylinn, Matthew and Lisa were anxious to get to come see me.
Nathan got to name me. Ashley Cay Laraway. I like this name compared to his other choice, Tuna Sandwich Can Opener.
