Battle of Tunnel Hill

 We were able to cross off an item on our Georgia Bucket List.  We went to a Civil War reenactment at Tunnel Hill.  The reenactment lasts two days, so the reenactors set up tents on opposite sides of the battle field.  There were a lot of people dressed up in period attire which was fun to see.

 It was fun to listen to the spectators compare their ancestry with each other. There was a lot of Southern pride.

 It was sprinkling when the battle begun.  But the weather was cooler which was nice.

 

 

 The cannons were really loud.  I made Dad cover my ears.  Mom was covering Ashley's.   We didn't stay for the whole battle due to the noise.  But it was great fun to see!  Mom and Dad loved it.

 We then walked through the train tunnel that the battlefield is named after.  It is 1,447 feet long, and it is really dark inside.  Even with the lights, it is hard to see where you are walking.

 

 We were going to walk through the soldier camps after the battle was over, but it started to storm, so we headed home.

Dad thought we would really get into the Southern spirit and stop at a roadside stand (covered in Confederate flags) and buy some boiled peanuts.  I love boiled peanuts.
