Making Apple Pie

Since we picked so many apples at the orchard, I wanted Mimi to make an apple pie.
It was yummy!

Hillcrest Apple Orchards with Mimi

We went to Ellijay, Georgia to Hillcrest Apple Orchard.

I was big enough to pedal these this year.

I really enjoyed picking apples.

I milked Buttercup the cow.

Mimi Visits

I got to meet my Mimi!  She came for a visit.  She has been very helpful making meals and taking care of me.

USS Yorktown

Mom dropped Dad and me off at Patriot's Point so I could go see the aircraft carrier the USS Yorktown.  I was so excited!!

It was fun to see all the planes.  When I grow up I am going to be a pilot.

This is up in the tower.

Fort Moultrie

We drove to Sullivan's Island to Fort Moultrie.  It was built in 1776 and lined with palmetto logs.  When the British attacked during the American Revolution, their cannon balls just bounced off the logs.  This is why South Carolina has the palmetto tree on their flag.

 Sullivan Island's Lighthouse.
Then we walked on a pier that was under the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge.  You could see the aircraft carrier again.

Fort Sumter

On Saturday we got on a boat and went to visit Fort Sumter.

We got a great view of the Charleston Harbor area.  There were also dolphins jumping right in front of the boat.

Sorry, can't remember what this little fort was named.
View of Fort Sumter from the boat.
The Civil War started at Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861, when Confederate artillery opened fire on this Union fort in Charleston Harbor. Fort Sumter surrendered 34 hours later. Union forces would try for nearly four years to take it back.

I was in charge of taking pictures.  I would push the self-timer and run.

 An original cannon shot.

It was pretty warm.  Ashley was trying to keep cool in her stroller.
You can see the aircraft carrier.
